How Does the Security Deposit Work?
When you pick up your rental vehicle, we will take the security deposit amount, which is held securely in Stripe. This amount is taken from your account and held until the vehicle is returned.

When Will I Get My Security Deposit Back?
We understand that getting your security deposit back promptly is important. At Hometown Vehicle Hire, we're really hot on deposits! Provided the vehicle is returned in the same condition it was rented (fair wear and tear excepted), with a full tank of fuel, and no additional charges are incurred, we will initiate the security deposit return immediately after the vehicle is checked in. While we process the return instantly, it can sometimes take up to 5 working days for the funds to be reflected in your account due to Stripe and bank processing times. Normally, however, the return is instantaneous.
What if There is Damage to the Vehicle?
If the rental vehicle is damaged during your rental period, we will assess the damage and determine the cost of repairs. If the cost of repairs is less than or equal to the security deposit, we will use the deposit to cover the repairs. If the cost of repairs exceeds the security deposit, you will be responsible for paying the difference, up to the excess amount.
